Blogging and Telepathy
Posted by Raul on July 15, 2010
What would happen to blogging if we all became telepaths?
-No writing?
-No correcting the writing before publishing?
-No pictures to re-size?
-No folders to keep things organized?
-No visits to make and visitors to receive?
-No subscriber lists, everyone is kept in mind?
-No typing, computers or internet?
-No internet down! (That’s good)
-How about plug-ins?
So just sit down and send the post by brain waves
And how do we receive the posts?
-A sort of signal received that a new post is about to be released?
-Then we sit down and concentrate in the brain waves being transmitted?
-How do we go back to “read” again the post?
-Do we just keep everything in our memory?
-The blogger also keeps everything in memory?
-What about those with bad memory? (Like me)
For sure many things would change, some for good, some for bad.
-A good thing would be no more sloooow computers to fight with (like the crappy one I got)
-One of the bad things is that just the thought of telepathy gets me confused! Jeez!!

Very entertaining thoughts there, Raul! You know what… I think if it were me in that scenario, my brain would fry in about two seconds from the information overload! And I would never be able to be rebooted!

Hi Tony,
Good thing then we are not yet capable of telepathy…we don’t want a fried brain! (how it’ll be Southern style?)

Hi Raul – Blogging can be time consuming and computers can be a pain. But I think all those telepathic message would drive me mad – unless we could filter them somehow, so we only got the ones we needed.
Also, it would be great if we could set them to come through at certain times a day, so we wouldn’t be interrupted while we were working.

Hi Cath,
Probably that’s why we don’t have telepathic capabilities…we are not ready…yet; and the time of the day to receive them, I assume we need to organize our thoughts a little more

Hmm, seems like we’d still need to form ideas into a post-like organization. And then we’d need a way to hang the thought out there for people to find and perceive at their leisure. We’d need some type of telepathic storage medium.
In a way it would be like a video blog, which also has no writing, but still has to have a storage medium.
Perhaps we would then just all plug into the Akashic Records and store our telepathic blogs there. It may be possible some day, but I suspect we have some growth to do as a species before telepathy is opened up for us.

Hi Eric,
The storage medium seems to be the way to compensate for the problem of “timing” for different people in different activities and time zones; but yes, we do need to have some growth as a species before we could even “think” about it

I wonder whether this means nothing is filtered as a result. Do we get to pick each other’s brain directly or do we get to focus and transmit a particular thought?
Would be interesting to find out how trolling would work in that context!

Hi Kelvin,
I suppose telepathy would be much like talking: you speak, people hear, you keep your mouth shut, people don’t know what are you thinking. We have our thoughts but we decide which ones and in which way we send them out.
At the other hand, just like we can simply pay no attention to someone talking so we don’t hear them (like when reading a book in a coffee shop) we probably will be able to close ourselves to so much “mental noise” in the air.

Sorry you’re having to deal with a slow computer. My desktop is like that, and I avoid it like the plague. I can’t even imagine what my blogging would be like if I had telepathy. I can barely imagine what it’s supposed to be like now

Hi Jean,
Sorry about your desktop; it seems one of the elements to push a telepathic blogging system could be getting tired of slow computers
I’m sure we all have some degree of telepathy right now, like when we suddenly remember someone just to hear the phone ring a couple of seconds later, have you have that happened to you?

This is indeed an interesting idea. I’d be concerned with the telepathic ‘hackers’ though!

Hi Bamboo,
I’m not so worried about telepathic hackers but what about telepathic viruses? We would need telepathic antiviruses, and when we use those, does it hurt?

I love this idea, Raul. We’d just have to learn to focus, just like we do now… Hah!

Hi Davina,
Wouldn’t be interesting? I don’t know if practical, but surely something worth to try one day
